Audio visual collection, long playing records of Smith College, 1909-1982.

The long playing collection consists mainly of recorded speeches and musical performances by Smith Collge individuals and groups. Significant speeches to the college body were often recorded. These include ceremonial (the inauguration of President Wright; the presentation of an honorary degree to Eleanor Roosevelt) or religious (chapel readings by President Neilson; chapel remarks by Annetta Clark). The voices of college Presidents Seelye, Neilson and Wright are found on LPs. Smith traditions such as Rally Day and Christmas Vespers are also preserved in this collection. There are recordings by the Smiffenpoofs, Smithereens and Octavians, three of Smith's a cappella choirs. The Smith College Glee Club, Choir, Chamber Singers and Chamber Orchestra are also included. Also included are several international quizzes that Smith students participated in and the Smith College 75th Anniversary Fund radio spots.
